Guide to Bidding
Anyone can buy a vehicle from Auto Auctions.
Buying a vehicle at Auto Auctions is not difficult, with over 700 vehicles sold each week.
Members of the public and dealers have been buying cars from Auto Auctions since 1946.
You can buy with confidence at Auto Auctions knowing all our vehicles are sold with guaranteed title.
All vehicles are displayed with a report on the windscreen listing any major faults with the driveline. A “roadworthy certificate” is supplied with all passenger vehicles sold to private buyers.
- STEP 1
Decide on the vehicle(s) you are interested in.
Organise your finances. If you require financial services contact us for pre-approval.

If you intend on inspecting vehicles on auction days allow yourself ample time before the auction commences.
Every vehicle (with a few noted exceptions) has an inspection report that advises of any major faults.
- STEP 3
Select a vehicle or number of vehicles that you are interested in.
Reserve prices are available where applicable. Many vehicles sold un-reserved.
- STEP 4
Before bidding make sure you have your drivers licence and deposit on you. A deposit is required on the fall of the hammer if you are the last successful bidder.
DEPOSIT REQUIRED
$500- cars up to $5000-
10% of the purchase price for cars over $5000-
Deposit payable by Bank Cheque, Cash, Bankcard, Mastercard, Visa or Eftpos.
Bidding increments usually increase by $100, $200, $250 or $500 at the discretion of the auctioneer.
Once you make a bid you cannot withdraw it.
All bids, deposits and sales include GST.
- STEP 5
When the vehicle you wish to bid on is being auctioned, raise your hand so the Auctioneer can see you. If you are the last successful bidder one of our sales staff will escort you to the sales office to secure your purchase or have your offer submitted if reserve hasn’t been met.
A Buyers Administration Fee of $450 - is payable on all purchases.
- STEP 6
Final Payment. All payments must be finalised within 2 working days by Cash or Bank Cheque.
By Law Private Buyers are to be afforded a Roadworthy Certificate with all passenger vehicles purchased. (This excludes commercial vehicles or any vehicle registered within 28 days.) Unfortunately this means that all vehicles $2000 and under will be sold to licensed motor dealers only. The Auctioneer will advise you if any vehicle above $2000 does not comply with Roadworthy Certificate standards. Any vehicle not able to pass a Roadworthy Certificate must be sold to a licensed motor dealer only.
